Jeff Baker, chief of the UNC Charlotte Police and Public Safety Department, recently was named Campus Safety magazine’s Director of the Year for 2012.

Baker’s selection resulted from a poll of readers of Campus Safety, in conjunction with a national panel of program judges. According to the magazine, Baker was noted for developing a plan to focus on community-oriented policing, for lobbying for more officers and for pushing for more thorough investigations. In addition, the magazine noted that Baker’s effort have led to a nearly 36 percent reduction in total incidents reported.

A future article in Campus Safety magazine will focus on Baker’s achievements as well as those of the UNC Charlotte Police and Public Safety Department.
