The Charlotte 49ers will host the 2013 Atlantic 10 Baseball Tournament Wednesday, May 22, through Saturday, May 25, at Hayes Stadium.
The team is fresh off of a win against High Point, and it is poised to excel in the championship, according to Charlotte 49ers officials. As of May 15, the 49ers were in first place in the conference, with an in-conference record of 16-5 and an overall record of 33-19. Charlotte heads to Saint Louis for a three-game A-10 Conference series to conclude the regular season. The 49ers are in first place in the league by one game over Saint Louis and La Salle and need two wins to secure a fifth Atlantic 10 crown in eight seasons of league membership.
Recently, two 49ers received A-10 honors. Junior outfielder Justin Seager was named Player of the Week, and senior John Hamilton was named Co-Pitcher of the Week. Their combined efforts contributed to the team's outstanding end-of-the-season run.
