Botanical Gardens to hold entomology class

The UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens will offer the three-day course “Basics of Entomology” on Thursday, June 6, and Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9.

Participants will receive a brief introduction to the biology of insects and related arthropods, structured around the application and investigation of issues related to interactions between insects and plants and insects and humans. Biodiversity will be the focus of the class along with the ecology of beneficial insects. During class, participants will collect insects to learn how to curate and identify them.

The cost to attend this course is $81. Classes will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday; 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, and 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday. For more information, call the Botanical Gardens at 704-687-0721.
