Education dean honored by German university

Mary Lynne Calhoun, dean of the College of Education, recently received the 2013 Internationalization Award from Germany’s Ludwigsburg University of Education.

The honor was presented during the 19th annual collaborative research symposium between education faculty at UNC Charlotte and Ludwigsburg. According to officials at Ludwigsburg University of Education, Calhoun was selected for the Internationalization Award for her efforts to promote the research collaboration and "because she is convinced that international perspectives help education meet the basic needs of human beings and enhance mutual understanding of people with different traditions and different origins." 

The University’s collaboration with Ludwigsburg University of Education is one of UNC Charlotte’s most-established international partnerships.

Calhoun is retiring as dean of the College of Education at the end of June.
