Wednesday, June 12, 2013

UNC Charlotte and the United Way of Central Carolinas will partner on Tuesday, June 18, to offer hands-on volunteer training focused on supporting children in their academic success.

The training, scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon, will center on helping children with reading; however, participants will receive tips and strategies on building relationships with students. All volunteers who sign up through the United Way’s Project 1,000 and who attend the training will receive six new books to share with their student along with a Project 1,000 tote bag.

The volunteer training will be conducted by members from the Center for Adolescent Literacies, housed in the UNC Charlotte College of Education. More information is on the Web.
