Get ready for Move-in

Monday, August 12, 2013

Nearly 5,550 students will make the campus their residence during the 2013-14 academic year. Move-in, scheduled for Friday through Sunday, Aug. 16-18, will be the time for new and returning students to set up their home away from home.

During Move-in, traffic on campus can be heavy, so employees should plan accordingly when entering/exiting the University. Campus police will direct traffic around campus Friday and Saturday.

The Office of Housing and Residence Life’s Move-in website provides students and their parents with helpful information on topics they need to know before arriving on campus. The site also provides a guide with information on what to bring and useful tips for making the most of the experience of living on campus.

There are assigned arrival times for students based upon individual residence halls; this is designed to help ease the traffic flow around campus. Residents who are unable to make their arrival time can check in on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Students who live on campus have the most convenient location from which to take advantage of all the campus has to offer. UNC Charlotte is more than textbooks and classes; students are encouraged to become actively engaged in the life of the University.  Explore all the possibilities available– study abroad offerings for greater global awareness; leadership and volunteer opportunities; cultural events and lectures; intramural sports; and of course, come out and cheer on the Charlotte 49er athletic teams wherever they might be competing.
