Registration open for fall intramural sports

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

UNC Charlotte’s first official football season about to start, and while not everyone can play, students can get more involved in sports by registering for intramural flag football, soccer and many others.

Registration is open for intramural freshman dodge ball, 6-a-side soccer (men’s, women’s and co-recreational), mini-golf challenge, volleyball (men’s, women’s and co-recreational), badminton doubles and tennis singles.

Flag football (men’s, women’s and co-recreational) teams can register starting Monday, Sept. 23.  Intramural flag football, like other intramural sports, is free and open to all skills.  Registration for additional sports continues throughout the fall.

Flag football is one of UNC Charlotte’s most popular intramural sports.  Last year, more than 200 teams registered with 2,205 participants.

Ryan Holt, assistant director for intramural sports, said he encourages students to get involved in intramural sports because “it is a leadership opportunity for students who want to start their own team.” Holt added that intramural sports are not only fun but are good for “exercise, making friends and teamwork.”
