Art exhibit, 'Spotlight' recital to honor alumni

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

“Multiplicity,” an art exhibit showcasing the projects and works of seven distinguished alumni, is on display in the Rowe Arts Building Galleries.

The “Multiplicity” artists, Daniel Allegrucci, Austin Ballard, Leigh Brinkley, Lorraine Turi, Banks Wilson, and the duo Liliya Zalevskaya and David Scott Sackett, have taken vastly different trajectories and explored varied media; however, they agree UNC Charlotte was a stepping-stone in their development as successful artists. The alums will return to their alma mater for a panel discussion at 4:15 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13, in the Rowe Arts Building. A reception follows at 5 p.m.

On this same evening, the Department of Music will present “Spotlight,” an annual celebration of exceptional music students and alumni. This year’s “Spotlight,” which is at 7:30 pm in the Robinson Hall, Belk Theater, honors alumnus Tom LaJoie, orchestra director at Randolph and Alexander Graham middle schools.

Tickets for the recital are $15, free for students. Proceeds support music scholarships. For more information, visit the College of Arts + Architecture website.
