Giving Green campaign to launch annual drive Sept. 24

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Football is a new fall tradition that is underway; another annual event is the Giving Green Campaign – the University’s centralized, unified effort to support the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC), the Arts & Science Council (ASC) and the UNC Charlotte Foundation.

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, faculty and staff are invited to attend a free, campaign kick-off luncheon at the Barnhardt Student Activity Center plaza. (Tickets are required for the luncheon, which starts at noon; look for details in an email invitation from campaign organizers). An agency fair will be part of the event, and anyone who makes a donation to any of the Giving Green beneficiaries during the kickoff will be eligible for prizes.

“Our work each day is aimed at helping all of our students be competitive and successful in the lives that lie ahead of them. The SECC, ASC and UNC Charlotte Foundation are competing for success, too. They vie for donor support critical to their missions of providing services and experiences that enhance the quality of life for the citizens of the greater Charlotte region,” wrote Chancellor Philip L. Dubois in an email to faculty and staff announcing this year’s campaign.

Joël Gallegos, assistant provost for international programs, and Misty Hathcock, UNC Charlotte alumna and director of the Teaching Fellows Program, are the 2013 Giving Green Campaign co-chairs. Throughout the campaign, they will provide communication pieces about how UNC Charlotte employees can support the SECC, ASC and UNC Charlotte Foundation efforts.

Helping spread the word across campus will be the Giving Green champions: Chris Barton, College of Arts + Architecture; Latricia Boone, College of Health and Human Services; Scott Byrd, athletics; Ramah Carle, academic affairs; Tim Carmichael, Belk College of Business; Tina Dadio, Chancellor’s Office, legal affairs, internal audit; Denelle Eads, J. Murrey Atkins Library; Susan Harden, College of Education; Linda-Jean Jay, Graduate School; Rick Lejk, College of Computing and Informatics; Robin Mara, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences; David Rousmaniere, student affairs; Ron Smelser, Lee College of Engineering; Buffie Stephens, University advancement; and Shelly Theriault, business affairs.
