The College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) will host its 14th annual UNC Charlotte Cyber Security Symposium on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
According to CCI officials, this event, the region’s premiere security conference, will address the latest issues surrounding cyber crime, cyber war, privacy issues, the piracy of intellectual property, and what is being done to combat these ever-increasing global threats.
“Our daily life, economic vitality and national security depend on a stable, safe and resilient cyberspace. We rely on this vast array of networks to communicate and travel, power our homes, run our economy, and provide government services. Yet cyber intrusions and attacks have increased dramatically over the last decade, exposing sensitive personal and business information, disrupting critical operations, and imposing high costs on the economy,” stated leaders at the Department of Homeland Security.
Speakers from across the United States will attend the Oct. 9 UNC Charlotte Cyber Security Symposium. They include Roger Callahan, IAadvisory; Ted Claypoole, WCSR; Thom Dosedel, Secure Ideas; Brian Foster, Damballa; Jack Freund, TIAA-CREF; Dan Geer; Orion Hindawi, Tanium; John Melton, White Hat Secuity; Brent Rowe, RTI International; Charlotte Scheper, RTI International; Will Stranathan, CyberDNA; Steve Surdu, Mandiant; Erik Yunghans, Checkpoint.
A must for business continuity professionals, information technology managers, software developers, systems administrators, information security professionals, information security consultants, and government leaders, the UNC Charlotte Cyber Security Symposium will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cone University Center. Often, the City of Charlotte proclaims October to be Cyber Security Awareness Month in recognition of the event.
