UNC Charlotte is expanding its “Big Data” initiative into executive education with a two-day seminar in October focused on customer analytics and data science, organized by the Belk College of Business and the College of Computing and Informatics.

“Know Your Customers,” which takes place Thursday and Friday, Oct. 17-18, at UNC Charlotte Center City, is geared toward business executives interested in using data to transform client relationships. Participants will develop an understanding of the technology, personnel, leadership and organizational structure needed to develop an analytics culture, with a focus on practical issues and implementation.

Ashok Srivastava, chief data scientist for Verizon Inc., and Anindya Ghose, co-director of the Center for Business Analytics at NYU’s Stern School of Business, will keynote the program. Panelists and presenters will include UNC Charlotte faculty members, along with industry experts from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Belk Inc., Bank of America and Huron Legal.

The program fee is $2,000 per person, which includes tuition, materials and resources as well as meals, breaks and an evening reception. Registration and additional information is available on the Web.

Executive education and professional development are key components of the University’s Data Science and Business Analytics (DSBA) Initiative, which also includes graduate and undergraduate academic programs and an industry/university research consortium.
