University to test alert sirens Sept. 25

Friday, September 20, 2013

UNC Charlotte will conduct a test of the Whelen Alert Sirens at approximately noon, Wednesday, Sept. 25.

The test involves three sirens, located at J. Murrey Atkins Library, between EPIC and Grigg Hall and behind the Facilities Management/Police and Public Safety Building.

As part of the exercise, in conjunction with national Campus Safety Awareness Month, the sirens will sound a loud tone, followed by an audible message to inform the campus community of the test and that no actual emergency has occurred. While some information transmitted via the sirens may be heard indoors, the sirens are intended to notify individuals who are outside.
