Register for annual ‘Fore P.J.’ golf tournament

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Friday, Sept. 27, is the early registration deadline for the annual “Fore P.J.” Memorial Golf Tournament. Proceeds from this event fund a $4,000 scholarship provided through the Department of Recreational Services to rising juniors and seniors who are actively involved in the department.

The P.J. Briggs Memorial Scholarship was established to honor its namesake, a former student who was heavily involved in recreational services while at UNC Charlotte before his death in an automobile accident. The Briggs family established the memorial scholarship, which helps support the role recreational services plays in fostering healthy living and academic excellence among college students.

Briggs’ parents, Ken and Catherine, host the annual “Fore P.J.” golf tournament to maintain Briggs’ legacy as well as to raise money in support of the scholarship. The 20th annual 'Fore P.J.' Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 4, at the Tradition Golf Club in Charlotte.

Registration for the tournament is required along with a player fee of $100 prior to Sept. 27; player fee increases to $110 after that deadline.
