CNN’s Toobin to talk ‘Politics, Media and the Law’ for Chancellor’s Speaker Series

Jeffrey Toobin, senior analyst for CNN, will be the featured guest for the third annual Chancellor’s Speaker Series, scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, at UNC Charlotte Center City.

Toobin is considered among the nation’s most-respected experts on politics, media and the law. He is the author of the New York Times best-seller “The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court” and “Too Close to Call: The 36-day Battle to Decide the 2000 Election.” His latest work, “The Oath,” is an insider’s account of the ideological war between the John Roberts Supreme Court and the Obama administration.

Prior to joining CNN in 2002, Toobin was with ABC News where he covered some of the country’s highest-profile cases and received a 2000 Emmy Award. He previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney in Brooklyn, N.Y., as well as an associate counsel in private practice.

A graduate of Harvard University, Toobin completed his law degree from Harvard Law School, where he was editor of the Harvard Law Review.

The Chancellor’s Speaker Series is an invitation-only event sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. The series brings influential thought-leaders to the Queen City to address a wide range of topics; previous speakers included Erskine Bowles/Alan Simpson and Michael Beschloss.
