University’s ‘Big Data’ efforts featured in Charlotte Chamber publication

The Charlotte Chamber recently released a 20-page publication that focuses on the region’s efforts related to “Big Data” and business analytics, and the University was featured prominently.

Chancellor Philip L. Dubois was interviewed about the University’s Data Science and Business Analytics initiative, which involves the Belk College of Business and the College of Computing and Informatics with input from the College of Health and Human Services.

Yi Deng, CCI dean, and Steve Ott, Belk College dean, also provided comments for the article “UNC Charlotte Targets Talent Shortage, Regional Prowess.”

Derek Wang, associate director of the Charlotte Visualization Center, is featured in the publication, too. The story notes the native of China completed a doctorate in computer science from the University, and UNC Charlotte’s strong data visualization program lured him to campus.
