Wednesday, April 9, 2014

The exhibit “Illustrio(us),” which features work by graduating seniors in the College of Arts + Architecture’s Department of Art + Art History is on display in the Student Union Art Gallery through Thursday, April 24.

A public reception for the exhibit will be at 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 15.

Pieces displayed in “Illustrio(us)” are primarily two-dimensional pieces and include digital, hand-drawn and painted works.

The exhibit features art by seniors Dylan Banks, Steffan Dussault, Kellie Funderburk, Mallory Gardner, Katrina Kelly, Jemima Omalay, Matthew Shinn and Joanna Zamora.

The Department of Art + Art History holds BFA exhibitions at the end of each semester to feature the works of graduating students. The BFA is the highest professional degree offered by the department, and the final exhibitions represent the most accomplished artwork that graduating students have created during their time at UNC Charlotte.

“The exhibit offers students an opportunity to see work currently being created at UNC Charlotte in the illustration department,” said Liz Walton, student art gallery coordinator. “The Student Union Art Gallery wanted to promote the students’ works to help bring artistic awareness of the UNC Charlotte community.”

The Student Union “Illustrio(us)” BFA exhibit will be held concurrently with BFA shows in the Rowe Arts Galleries.
