Wednesday, April 9, 2014

Pat Schulz, owner and founder of ENHEART Publishing, will present “So You Want to be Published?” at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 24, in the Cone University Center, McKnight Hall.

In her talk, which is free and open to the public, Schulz will discuss the challenges and opportunities of publishing fiction and nonfiction, along with topics related to self-publishing and independent and trade publishing.

A graduate of UNC Greensboro with a degree in business administration, Schulz founded ENHEART Publishing, an independent book publishing and consulting company, in 1996. ENHEART, which means from the heart, addresses the company’s commitment to sincerity that it places in each project, according to its website. ENHEART’s mission is to “deliver positive messages that motivate, inspire and educate by producing literary work with integrity, creativity and quality.”

She started the enterprise in order to realize a personal goal of publishing her book of poetry “Metamorphosis – A Life Journey.” Most recently, Schulz is the author of “Making Sweet Lemonade”

A resident of Charlotte, Schulz has served on the Mecklenburg County Domestic Violence Advisory Board, as well as on the board of directors for the Council of Children. In 1994, she received the Charlotte Area Woman of the Year award from the American Business Women’s Association.

The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Department of English and the Division for Student Affairs are co-sponsoring this talk, which is supported through a Chancellor's Diversity Challenge Fund grant.
