University Career Center to launch Hire-A-Niner

The University Career Center soon will launch Hire-A-Niner, a new online system with a host of advanced features designed to connect UNC Charlotte students and alumni with employers.

Students and alumni can use Hire-A-Niner to connect to more than 7,000 positions each year, including full-time-jobs, 49erships (internships), co-ops and part-time jobs. New features for students and alumni include a built-in resume creator, resource library, hire reporting and online career tools, such as Going Global and CareerSpots. Students can log in to Hire-A-Niner using their NinerNet credentials, making access to the system quick and easy, said Career Center officials.

Employers can use Hire-A-Niner to post a position, view student and alumni resumes, schedule on-campus interviews and information sessions, report hires and manage their employer directory profile.

Students, advisors and employers involved in the Experiential Learning Program will benefit from the program’s automation, which tracks students’ progress through the program and enables online approvals.

Improved functionality is one of many reasons behind the change to Hire-A-Niner, which replaces NinerJobNet.

“Hire-A-Niner exemplifies the focus of our office on supporting the diverse needs of students and employers. By implementing this new system, we will continue to enhance our programs and services related to full-time employment, experiential learning, off-campus student employment, service learning and mentoring and shadowing,” said University Career Center director Denise Dwight Smith.

Hire-A-Niner has additional features that will roll out during the next year, including faculty accounts and career fair registration.

In addition to Hire-A-Niner, the Career Center has a new career fair management system.

“Employers can easily register for the Career and Public Service Expo and Off-campus Job and Internship Fair online, and soon students and alumni will be able to view information on career fair registrants,” Brooke Brown, the office’s events coordinator, stated.

Hire-A-Niner is powered by CSO Research, an organization that specializes in career services software that is used by more than 900 colleges and universities. Students, alumni and employers can log in to Hire-A-Niner through the University Career Center’s homepage.
