Ribbon-cutting held for UNC Charlotte’s Career & Collaboration Hub

UNC Charlotte’s University Career Center celebrated a ribbon-cutting for the center’s new Career & Collaboration Hub Friday, Aug. 25. 

Created together with Truist Financial Corporation, one of the largest  financial institutions in the country, the hub is a place where success, engagement and purpose align to support UNC Charlotte students with resume development tools, interview preparation, sponsored career events and networking opportunities for employment or internships.

University Career Center’s Michelle Wann wins statewide innovation award

Michelle Wann, job location and development program coordinator for the University Career Center, is this year’s recipient of the North Carolina Association of Colleges and Employers annual Innovation Award.

Fall Career and Internship Fair scheduled

The University’s Career Center will hold its Fall Career and Internship Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.

This is the largest career fair of the fall and is open to all major and class levels. Representatives from more than 230 employers are expected to attend, including a number of Fortune 100 companies. These employers, representing a range of industries, will be seeking applicants for full-time jobs, internships and co-ops.

Career Center to hold WebJam2020

The University Career Center (UCC) will host the Virtual Web Jamboree 2020 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, as part of Gold Rush.This free event kicks off the new academic year, and the UCC is partnering with the University Center for Academic Excellence; Office of Education Abroad; Student Involvement; Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement; and Office of Undergraduate Research.

Career Center to host virtual networking event

The UNC Charlotte Career Center will host CLT Net from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 29. This virtual event will gather recruiters, students, professionals and community members from around the Charlotte area for an evening of networking, recruiting and learning.

As the University’s enrollment continues to grow, so does the presence of employers seeking talented prospects. At this fall’s Career & Internship Fair, representatives from 210 employers are expected.

Career Carnival returns on Aug. 23

The University Career Center’s Career Carnival will transform the Barnhardt Student Activity Center food court on Thursday, Aug. 23.

Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., students will have an opportunity to try their hand at classic carnival games, such as Hi-Striker, Frog Launcher and Milk Can Toss, or less traditional games like Virtual Roller Coaster or Air Racer. In between games, students can snap a picture with Norm, grab some cotton candy or a snow cone, get a face-painted tattoo or claim a T-shirt prize.

Inclusivity is theme for employer showcase and mixer

The Multicultural Resource Center and University Career Center will co-host an “Inclusivity Employer Showcase and Mixer” on Thursday, Oct. 26, for UNC Charlotte students.

This two-part event will begin at 11 a.m. at the Popp Martin Student Union Rotunda. Students will have the chance to speak with 12 employers whose organizations have a focus on inclusivity. Company representatives will discuss their work as students learn about jobs and internships available in the Charlotte area.

Campus units partner on research project related to career readiness

Two on-campus entities have partnered to use grant money to improve student experiences and outcomes across North Carolina.
