Staff Council recognizes former webmaster Elizabeth Mace
Staff Council officers Jim Kay and Penny Stevens recently honored Elizabeth Mace for her years of volunteer service as the council’s webmaster.
Mace, a post-award specialist in the College of Health and Human Services, was nominated for the role in 2009 when budgetary restrictions eliminated funding for the work-study student who maintained the council website.
“Because I was already working with the College of Health and Human Services IT Department and was webmaster for the Public Health Sciences Department, my colleague and then-council representative for our area Cynthia Stasiewski nominated me,” said Mace. “Of course, I said yes. Anything I could do to help our University during these hard times, I was willing to do. I took over the site and redeveloped it using Dreamweaver, which is a Web design and development application. It was still on an outside FTP server, but I worked with the University’s website migration team (in the Office of University Communications) to bring awareness and urgency to the need for the Staff Council’s website to be among the first sites to migrate to the University’s new content management platform Drupal, and I was successful in that endeavor.”
Kay, Staff Council chair, stated Mace’s “unselfish contributions to the University, especially with regard to making our University Staff Council a better functioning organization, are admired and worthy of praise.”
