Spring Career Expo to feature 200-plus employers
More than 215 employers are expected in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center for this year’s Spring Career Expo on Friday, Feb. 19. Representatives from corporate, government and nonprofit organizations will attend to recruit UNC Charlotte students and alumni for full-time positions, internships and co-ops at this annual event.
The Spring Career Expo is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it is open to all UNC Charlotte students and alumni. Many alumni will be back on campus for the event – some as recruiters and others as candidates. In total, the event is expected to draw more than 1,200 student and alumni job seekers, according to organizers.
Apple, Compass Group, Crown Castle, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Lowe’s, MicroD, N.C. DOT, Peace Corps, Raleigh Police Department, Red Ventures, Schaeffler Group USA and Teach for America are a few of the organizations registered to attend. In addition, a number of graduate and professional programs will be represented; students can explore graduate work in health, law, business, education and many other areas.
Prospective employers have requested participants be required to attend in professional dress at the Spring Career Expo; candidates may not wear casual clothing (jeans, shorts, sweats, T-shirts). Students and alumni who attend the event should bring multiple copies of a professional resume and should research employers before the event.
The University Career Center holds the Spring Career Expo, and the center helps candidates prepare for the fair in a number of ways. Students are encouraged to use the center’s drop-in hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday) for assistance with resumes and cover letters. For additional assistance with job or internship searches, students can schedule an appointment with their Career Center coach through Starfish.
