Courses and program sessions for June include:

Procurement and Supply Management Fundamentals
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday-Friday, June 1-3, UNC Charlotte Center City

This program, one of the first in the country, is an exclusive opportunity for students to not only learn and explore the quickly growing field of supply chain but for existing practitioners to master their skills as well. Procurement and supply chain is a series of processes or steps used to produce and/or distribute goods or services to a customer. Procurement and supply chain management involves the execution of securing those goods and services at a reasonable cost, and delivering them to a designated location in a timely, efficient manner.

Paralegal Certificate Program
Begins Thursday, June 2
6 to 9:30 p.m., UNC Charlotte Center City

UNC Charlotte’s Paralegal Certificate program is like no other in the city of Charlotte. The program is topical, intensive and intellectually rigorous. It was designed to fit the needs of the Charlotte legal and business communities. The goal of the program is to equip our graduates with the skills, knowledge, and abilities they need to embark on their careers with professionalism and acumen. The program meets two nights a week from June 2 through Dec. 8.

Project Risk Management
9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, June 6-7, UNC Charlotte Center City

This course examines risk monitoring as the project management plan is executed, the project manager’s efforts in establishing an approach to risk, and suitable responses consistent with the risk tolerance level of the stakeholders. One emphasis of this course looks at risks from the positive viewpoint of maximizing the benefits of acceptable outcomes rather than only looking to reduce negative impacts.

Coaching
6 to 9:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, June 7 and 9, UNC Charlotte Center City

This course will identify effective tools for coaching, characteristics of effective coaches and build skills for developing the right coaching relationships. Providing managers and leaders with the skills to be an effective coach and to facilitate greater employee ownership is key to driving increases in individual, team and organizational performance.

Emotional Intelligence: The Critical Skill for Leadership
8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday, June 13, UNC Charlotte Center City

The “fuel” to leverage one’s cognitive intelligence, business acumen and professional skills is emotional intelligence. Individuals experience the value and downfall of “being emotional” but are they aware of how it impacts others and those they lead? During this course, attendees will move from learning to understanding and then apply tactics and strategies to leverage emotional intelligence.

Change Management and Organizational Development
8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, UNC Charlotte Center City

The ability to become “change agile” and to proactively seek to learn new ways to reinvent themselves, teams and organizations is critical. This “Change Management and Organizational Development” workshop has been designed to provide participants with the tools they need to effectively meet those challenges.

Principles of Project Management
9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday, June 16-17, UNC Charlotte Center City

This course is intended as an overview to describe the fundamental principles, processes, knowledge areas and tools and techniques of project management. It is designed for practical application in the workplace. This two-day foundation course covers the primary topics described by the Project Management Institute in its publication “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge.”

Basics in Construction Project Management
8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Friday, June 17, UNC Charlotte Center City

Construction project management covers a wide range of topics including legal issues, technical engineering issues, safety issues, economical issues, social issues and even political issues. This course picked the most pressing issues related to the present construction engineering management. It covers some of the related legal issues, along with technical issues.

Design Thinking Certificate Information Session
6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, UNC Charlotte Center City

This free information session will provide individuals with the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the Design Thinking Certificate. Design thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that employs the principles and practices of design, such as empathy, rapid prototyping and a healthy respect for failure. Equal parts toolset and mindset, design thinking can be applied in a variety of ways to help organizations collaboratively solve complex problems, develop products and services and design experiences that delight customers and employees.
