University to observe International Education Week

International Education Week is Nov. 12-16, and the Office of International Programs, in collaboration with campus partners, will offer programming that highlights the role that colleges play in shaping global awareness.

A full calendar of UNC Charlotte’s International Education Week events is online, but below are highlights of the observance.

A parade kicks off International Education Week, starting at 3 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, in front of Cato Hall. Attendees will proceed (with country flags and signs) through campus to the Popp Martin Student Union. An opening reception follows in the Popp Martin Student Union Art Gallery and Piano Lounge, where Joël Gallegos, assistant provost for international programs, will speak at approximately 3:45 p.m.

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, Joe Warren, coordinator and facilitator of community engagement at Stellenbosch University International, will present “Legacies of Apartheid: Education and Nation.” This talk is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m., in the Fretwell Building, Room 100.

Gallegos also will facilitate a workshop for faculty to learn more about how to apply for the prestigious Fulbright awards at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 16, in the College of Health and Human Services, Room 128. The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs sponsors the Fulbright Program to support faculty with global engagement.
