This year’s Campus Sustainability Week is Oct. 1-7. This annual observance engages the University community in sustainable practices on campus. Three traditional events, all outdoors, are returning this year:

Tree Planting

Monday, Oct. 4, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

  • Location: Near the Motor Sports Building and Lot CRI 3
  • Facilities Management Grounds Department members will lead volunteers in reforesting part of campus. Register here.

Campus Cleanup

Tuesday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Location: Belk Plaza
  • Join the Office of Sustainability for the biannual campus cleanup. This is a great way to give back to the UNC Charlotte community, gain service hours and get some exercise walking around campus. Snacks will be provided for volunteers, as well as gloves, bags and litter sticks to get the job done. Multiple locations around campus. Register here.

 Student Gathering

Thursday, Oct. 7, 6 to 8 p.m.

  • Location: Popp Martin Student Union Back Patio
  • Join the Charlotte Green Initiative for pizza and pumpkin carving. This event brings together student organizations and interested students to meet and discuss projects to make the campus more sustainable. Register here.
