Constellation Garden Remembrance Memorial Open House
Students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to experience and share their impressions of the proposed Constellation Garden Remembrance Memorial at UNC Charlotte on Thursday, Nov. 18, in front of the Kennedy Building in Belk Plaza, anytime between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The Memorial designers from TEN X TEN, Hypersonic and Susan Hatchell Landscape Architecture, along with faculty and students from the School of Architecture developed augmented reality images that show the future memorial in the site itself. On Nov. 18, guests will be able to meet the designers and virtually explore the future memorial from a series of iPads.
The constellation garden follows the orientation of the stars above the Kennedy Building on April 30, 2019, and will honor and forever remember Riley Howell and Reed Parlier, who lost their lives in that day’s campus shooting, and pay tribute to Rami Alramadhan, Sean DeHart, Emily Houpt and Drew Pescaro, who suffered physical injuries, and everyone who was present in Kennedy 236.
