Fall Commencement to celebrate 3,700-plus graduates

On Friday and Saturday, Dec. 17-18, UNC Charlotte will hold Fall Commencement for 2021 graduates. Ceremonies will take place in the Dale F. Halton Arena, located inside the James. H. Barnhardt Student Activity Center. 

Three ceremonies are scheduled in which 2,545 students will receive undergraduate degrees; 1,183 students will be awarded graduate degrees. 

Friday’s commencement ceremony, which begins at 2 p.m., is for graduate students. Doctorate and master’s degrees will be conferred, and graduate certificates presented.

Two ceremonies will be Saturday with the first, at 10 a.m.; candidates for bachelor’s degrees from the College of Arts + Architecture, Cato College of Education and College of Liberal Arts & Sciences will be recognized.

In the afternoon, at 3 p.m., a ceremony will honor undergraduates from the Belk College of Business, College of Computing and Informatics, College of Health and Human Services and The William States Lee College of Engineering.

During each ceremony, Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber, representatives from the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees and UNC Board of Governors, and, student commencement speakers will deliver remarks.  Additional elements of the ceremony will include a performance of the UNC Charlotte alma mater, ringing of the bell, conferring of degrees and turning of tassels. 

Graduates are required to arrive 90 minutes before their ceremony begins and must bring their student ID or a photo ID and have their student ID number to participate. Masks will be required for all attendees. A clear bag policy will be enforced.
