Before the Student Union opened in fall 2010, the Barnhardt Student Activity Center was billed as the University’s “living room.”

Yanqing Sun, a professor of statistics in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Department of Mathematics and Statistics, recently was named a fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA), the nation’s preeminent professional statistical society.

The College of Arts + Architecture will present the display “Sketching the Drawdown,” which will feature works on paper by art student and former Marine Rob Bates. The pieces will be exhibited Friday, July 12, through Friday, Sept. 13, in the UNC Charlotte Center City lobby and front window.

Lee Gray, associate professor of architectural history, has won a 2013 Gold Award from the Trade Association Business Publications International for his regular column on elevator history in the monthly magazine “Elevator World.”

UNC Charlotte Center City was the site for a roundtable discussion by U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan on Wednesday, July 3, about college affordability and recent student loan increases.
