Will Healy, an Eddie Robinson Award winner as the National FCS Coach of the Year, has been selected as the head football coach for the Charlotte 49ers. Healy, who has coached at Austin Peay State University for the last three years, is known for infusing energy and enthusiasm in his program, engineering one of the greatest turnarounds in college football history.

Charlotte 49ers Director of Athletics Mike Hill has announced that Brad Lambert will not be retained as head football coach.

 “We’ve decided to make a change in our football program,” said Hill. “It is a decision I made after an opportunity to assess my first football season here. It’s about the trajectory of the program and putting us in the best position for the future. We elected to make this decision now so that we could begin the search immediately.”

Ceremony rededicates Belk Plaza as historic campus gathering spot

Belk Plaza has undergone a reimagining to add a monumental water element and a more expansive lawn, but as officials noted in a ceremony Friday, Nov. 16, to rededicate the space, it remains a central gathering location in the historic core of campus.

Professor Emeritus Norm Schul and his wife, Marianne ’73, recently made a major gift to the Urban Institute to establish the Marianne and Norman W. Schul Urban Institute Forum Series.

Registration underway for Chancellor’s Fishing Derby

The third Chancellor’s Fishing Derby will be Saturday, Nov. 10, at Hechenbleikner Lake.

This family-friendly event is open to faculty and staff members and their guests. Two 75-minute sessions will be held with check-in starting at 8 a.m.

Chancellor discusses UNC Charlotte’s efforts to serve Latino community

Chancellor Philip L. Dubois was the featured speaker at the Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Charlotte’s luncheon held at the Mint Museum in Uptown Charlotte.  He spoke to a packed room of business professionals and community leaders about the importance of education to individuals and the region, the University’s record-breaking enrollment and the growth of UNC Charlotte’s Latino community.
