A highlight of this year’s University Convocation, the event that traditionally kicks off the start of a new academic year, was the elevation of Charlotte’s high-impact learning experiences.

UNC Charlotte Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber and several University alumni and board members are on the 2022 Business North Carolina Power List. 

Key staff members from offices representing North Carolina’s federal Senate and House of Representatives visited UNC Charlotte for a Congressional Staff Symposium, “Shaping What’s Next at an Emerging Research University,” to learn about the University’s rapidly rising research profile.

On a perfect spring day from a location regarded as the academic heart of UNC Charlotte, and in the presence of more than 600 special guests, Sharon L. Gaber was officially welcomed on April 19, 2022, as UNC Charlotte’s fifth – and first woman – chancellor.

This partnership will focus on building better lives and communities through opportunity and workforce development.

Today marks the University’s “Shaping What’s Next” celebration, officially marking Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber’s arrival as UNC Charlotte’s fifth chancellor and celebrating all that is ahead for Niner Nation. A ceremony, delayed by nearly two years by COVID-19, will be held at 11 a.m. today on the plaza in front of the Popp Martin Student Union.

In honor of the impact Chancellor Gaber has already had on our University, here is a look back on her first 21 months as a Niner.

Rana Foroohar, global business columnist and associate editor at the Financial Times and global economic analyst at CNN, will deliver the annual TIAA Lecture, which is part of the UNC Charlotte Civic Series presented by Bank of America.

To provide a comprehensive and engaging experience for UNC Charlotte’s existing corporate partners and to attract new collaborators, Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber has announced the creation of the Office of Corporate Engagement.

Through augmented reality technology, guests will be able to virtually explore the future memorial.
