UNC Charlotte’s Engaged Scholarship Symposium will convene faculty, staff, students and community partners to discuss community engagement practices. This symposium is designed to facilitate creative collaboration across academic units, colleges and departments; to outline best practices and address challenges; and strengthen partnerships.

Civic engagement and education go hand-in-hand, and one important aspect of shaping American society is through the ballot box.UNC Charlotte Votes, a student-led, nonpartisan initiative that is part of the 49er Democracy Experience, is sponsoring Voter Registration Thursdays on Oct. 3 and 10. Members of the campus community are encouraged to stop by Atkins Library between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to learn more about the voting process and drop off their printed and signed TurboVote voter registration form.

To inspire more students to consider careers in manufacturing, UNC Charlotte and Dassault Systemes recently hosted nearly 175 high school students and teachers for an event in advance of National Manufacturing Day

New employees learn about University’s relationship with the Queen City.

A small group of children walk out of the Atrium Health University City hospital cafeteria and head directly to the crafts table. Volunteer students from UNC Charlotte’s School of Social Work greet them with smiling faces and art supplies in hand. A loud buzz fills the lobby as only the voices of young kids can do, while little hands craft get well soon cards for hospital patients.

Children and their families attending the third annual Kids Fest in October will be entertained as much as they are educated with performances by groups such as UNC Charlotte’s Codachrome A Cappella and the Queen City Circus.
