University’s student voter engagement effort earns Silver Seal

At the 2019 ALL IN Challenge awards ceremony recognizing colleges and universities committed to increasing college student voting rates, UNC Charlotte received a silver seal for achieving a student rate between 30 and 39 percent. 

UNC Charlotte partnering with The Washington Center for RNC student learning experience

UNC Charlotte is offering a unique educational experience to students seeking internships and other learning opportunities during the upcoming 2020 Republican National Convention (RNC) in Charlotte. Through an exclusive partnership with The Washington Center (TWC), UNC Charlotte will host hundreds of students from across the country for an extraordinary two-week educational program from Aug.16-28, 2020. 

Vote early with ‘Party to the Polls’

Voting early in this year’s local elections is easy with “Party to the Polls.” From Monday, Oct. 28, through Wednesday, Oct. 30, shuttles to the closest polling location, 8802 J.W. Clay Boulevard, will be offered.This effort is a partnership between the 49er Democracy Experience and the Student Government Association. Shuttles will depart from the Popp Martin Student Union between 2 and 4 p.m.; the last shuttle will return to campus by 5 p.m.

‘Where Are They Now?’ Alums to talk public service for 49er Democracy Experience kickoff

UNC Charlotte alumni whose careers span a broad spectrum of federal, state and local public service paths, including as elected officials, will kick off programming for the 49er Democracy Experience ahead of the 2020 election cycle and leading up to the Republican National Convention next summer in the Queen City.

Civic engagement and education go hand-in-hand, and one important aspect of shaping American society is through the ballot box.UNC Charlotte Votes, a student-led, nonpartisan initiative that is part of the 49er Democracy Experience, is sponsoring Voter Registration Thursdays on Oct. 3 and 10. Members of the campus community are encouraged to stop by Atkins Library between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to learn more about the voting process and drop off their printed and signed TurboVote voter registration form.
