Global Reach

The Office of International Programs is hosting the “Immigration Today Film and Discussion Forum,” a weekly event at 5:30 p.m., Mondays, through Nov. 18. The discussions are based upon “Harvest of Empire: The Untold Stories of Latinos in America,” a documentary film that explores the history of U.S. connections and immigration relationships to seven countries in Latin America, North America and the Caribbean.

Pamela Shue, assistant professor in the Child and Family Development program in the College of Education, was awarded a UNC-China Technology Learning Grant by UNC General Administration. It will fund the development of a global understanding course focused on early childhood education in collaboration with partners at Beijing Normal University (BNU) in Beijing, China.  

Gregory Starrett, a faculty member in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Anthropology Department, will talk about Egypt for the final installment of the 2013 Great Decisions Lecture Series. His presentation will be at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, at UNC Charlotte Center City.

Joyce Dalsheim will discuss her groundbreaking study of Israeli settlers in the Gaza Strip and the resulting book about her enthographic work at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, at UNC Charlotte Center City, as part of the 2012-13 Personally Speaking lecture series.
