Graduate School to hold application info session for employees

The Graduate School will conduct an application information session from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, May 25, in Cato Hall, Room 228, for University employees who hold a baccalaureate degree and wish to pursue a graduate education.

Four staff members honored as Employees of the Year

UNC Charlotte employees demonstrate devotion to duty, display innovation, participate in community/public service efforts and engender better human relations. For their efforts, staff members are nominated for and recognized as Employees of the Year. For 2016, the University honored Lebra Nance, Lee Beard, Paul Taylor and Dorothy Vick.

Become a better listener

The lunch-and-learn webinar “Becoming a Better Listener” will be from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Sponsored by the Human Resources Department, this online offering will address the differences between listening and hearing, outline the characteristics of a good listener and identify barriers to listening and how to overcome them.

Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less to start Aug. 31

A new offering of the 15-week weight-management program Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 31.

This program has been developed by health experts, and State Health Plan members can participate for $30 with a $25 refund for those who attend 10 of the 15 sessions.

During the one-hour classroom sessions, an experienced instructor will provide information and motivation for participants to make healthy choices related to nutrition and physical activitiy.

New session of Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less to start

A new offering of Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less begins on Monday, April 27.

This 15-week weight-management program is developed by health experts. State Health Plan members can participate for $30 with a $25 refund for those who attend 10 of the 15 sessions.

The course fee must be paid at the first session. Fifteen registrants are needed to form a class. Tina Mendieta from the Mecklenburg County Health Department will lead the program, which will meet at noon in Colvard Building, Room 5092.

2015 Employees of the Year named at annual Staff Recognition Luncheon

Cole Carter, Tina Dadio, Solomon Franklin and Kurt Richter are the 2015 Employees of the Year. They were honored at the annual Staff Recognition Luncheon, held Wednesday, March 11, in the Student Union Multipurpose Room.

Leadership program scholarships available

Three scholarships, worth up to $8,200, are available for selected individuals to attend the highly regarded Leadership Development Program offered by the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro.

According to Gary Stinnett, associate vice chancellor for human resources, this is an excellent career-enhancing opportunity for well-deserving managers to attend an internationally recognized development program that will aid in their own personal development as well as help them to become more effective leaders.
