Applications accepted for student awards and honors
The Dean of Students Office is seeking nominations for the following awards: Bonnie Cone Leadership Award, Noble Niner Award, Chuck Lynch Award and the Chancellor’s Citations for Leadership and Service.
These honors recognize students who have made significant contributions to UNC Charlotte during their undergraduate careers and are given annually to graduating seniors who have shown outstanding qualities of scholarship and leadership.

IEE to host open discussion about racial injustice
The Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement (IEE) will host a virtual Green Table Talk — a play on Red Table Talk hosted by Jada Pinkett-Smith on Facebook — on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Career Center to hold WebJam2020
The University Career Center (UCC) will host the Virtual Web Jamboree 2020 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, as part of Gold Rush.This free event kicks off the new academic year, and the UCC is partnering with the University Center for Academic Excellence; Office of Education Abroad; Student Involvement; Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement; and Office of Undergraduate Research.

49er Rocketry team places second in NASA event
The UNC Charlotte Rocketry team finished second overall and first in the payload portion of the 2020 NASA Student Launch competition. This is the third consecutive year a UNC Charlotte team has been the overall runners-up in this national event.Although the program was delayed and the annual launch finale event in Huntsville, Alabama, canceled, 54 teams competed remotely in the design, building and testing portions of the competition.

Local exhibit features work by two art students
Art students Malik J. Norman and Ajané Williams are among the 11 artists featured in an exhibition at Gallery C3, located in Charlotte’s South End district.Curated by Janelle Dunlap, the show “H20/20, Elemental Retribution” includes work by professional artists from Charlotte; Chicago; Columbia, South Carolina; and Pasadena, California.

New programming initiative engages first-year students
Year One Launch, a new programming series featuring more than 90 virtual events between Aug. 3 and Sept. 3, will connect incoming students to the University prior to their first day of class.

Dean Reynolds to match gifts to Student Emergency Fund
Tom Reynolds will generously match dollar-for-dollar all gifts made to the UNC Charlotte Student Emergency Fund up to $5,000 through June 30, 2020.

March to End Injustice unites students and community
