University’s nondiscrimination policy revised
University Policy 501, Nondiscrimination, has been simplified, and the prohibition on discrimination or discriminatory harassment by any member of the University community has been clarified. This policy applies to students, faculty and staff. All employees are required to report alleged violations of the policy.
OneIT Renews Agreement with Adobe
OneIT recently renewed its agreement with Adobe; faculty and staff Adobe users may have received an email notification saying “you now have access to All Apps – Pro Edition – EDU.” That was a legitimate email notification of the update, but employees do not have to do anything to continue using the software.
Stinnett announces retirement as AVC for human resources
Gary W. Stinnett, associate vice chancellor for human resources and university affirmative action officer, has announced his intention to retire, effective April 1, 2023.
Stinnett has led Charlotte’s HR function since 1996, overseeing recruitment and employment, position classification and salary administration, employee relations, professional learning and development, benefits administration, human resources information systems and on-campus student employment.
Bursar’s Office e-cashier Nora Miller has died
Nora Miller ’81, a member of the Office of the Bursar, died Monday, June 13. She was the e-cashier and joined the University in July 2008.
HR shares important updates on new observance leave and legislative pay increases
This June brings important updates from the Office of Human Resources. Please carefully read this information on the new Personal Observance Leave and legislative pay increases for the upcoming fiscal year.
New Personal Observance Leave available to eligible employees
In recognition and celebration of a diverse workforce, UNC Charlotte will now annually offer eight hours of Personal Observance Leave. This leave is designed for leave-earning employees to use on a day of significance, including days of cultural, religious or personal observation.
OneIT making remote support easier for most University computers
In the next couple of days, employees should see a new icon on their Windows desktop and start menu that says “OneIT Support.” Mac users will see the same icon in self-service and applications.
When working with the Service Desk, click on this icon will make it easier to establish a remote-control session. See the Windows FAQ and the Mac FAQ for more details.
Harris needs shared leave
Christian Harris, recycling, needs shared leave donations. The Benefits Office will accept donations through June 21.
To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or complete the online Voluntary Shared Leave Donation Form from the HR Benefits Forms website.
Donation forms also are available through the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207.
COVID boosters bring rewards — in protection and time off
Receiving a COVID-19 vaccination and booster remain the best protection against severe illness from the virus, especially as cases continue to rise nationally and in the state.
UNC Charlotte is encouraging employees to receive their booster with an additional eight hours of paid leave. Eligible employees who receive their first booster on or before Aug. 31, 2022, will receive the leave. The eight hours may be used for any reason and are made possible through direction by the UNC System in conjunction with an executive order from Gov. Roy Cooper.
FM employee Morris Houston has died
Morris “Morri” Houston, 64, died Thursday, May 26, in an automobile accident.
Houston, who joined the University in March 2022, was a technician with the Building Environmental Services and Recycling unit’s Team 1 in the Office of Facilities Management. Prior to the University, Houston worked as a day porter for Kimco for four years and was a courier/driver with Priority Services for 35 years.
