University to host screening of ‘The Muslims are Coming!’
The Campus Activities Board (CAB) will host a screening of the documentary/comedy “The Muslims are Coming!” at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct.29, in the Cone University Center After Hours Lounge.
Afterward, there will be a discussion with the director and one of the comedians featured in the documentary.
“The Muslims are Coming!” is a comedy/documentary that follows a band of Muslim-American comedians as they visit big cities, small towns, rural villages and everything in between to combat Islamophobia. Through comedy, the film addresses freedom of religion in America for people all faiths.
Comedians in the documentary perform standup routines at each tour stop, and they also create ridiculous interventions in unsuspecting town squares with games such as “Ask a Muslim Booth” and “Name That Religion.”
The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart, Janeane Garofalo, Lewis Black, Aasif Mandvi and media personalities Rachel Maddow and Russell Simmons are among the performers featured in the film.
