Graduate student Hannah Levinson, in conjunction with the Latin American Coalition and Charlotte-based Haberdashery Films, recently launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise support for “From the Back of the Line,” a 30-minute film about undocumented migrants living and working in Charlotte.  The documentary will premiere Friday, May 3, at UNC Charlotte Center City.

UNC Charlotte will host the top 100 young geography whizzes from across North Carolina on Friday, April 5, for the state-level geographic bee; participants will be competing for a spot in the 25th annual National Geographic Bee that will be held in Washington, D.C., in May.

UNC Charlotte's Office of University Communications will provide a live stream of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Dialogue for a Healthier Community lecture "Fitting into Your Genes: The New Paradigm for Health Aging" starting at 6 p.m., tonight. Scott Gordon, chair of the Kinesiology Department in the College of Health and Human Services, will deliver this talk.

The Asian Student Association will hold its fifth annual “Hello Asia” event to showcase various Asian cultures through music, dance and fashion at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 6, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Salons. Admission is $7 for students with a college ID, $10 for the public. Admission tickets will serve as a raffle ticket for prizes.

Keith Wassum and Gary Caton joined "Live Wire" host Stephen Ward to discuss football game day parking. In advance of the spring football game set for Saturday, April 20, they outlined how the spring game will provide an opportunity to see what fall football Saturdays will be like.

UNC Charlotte's new Quality Enhancement Plan "Prospect for Success" has passed a significant test—with flying colors—as the accreditation team from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) had only encouragement for the work during its site visit to the University this week.

The Department of Theatre will present “Romeo.Juliet,” a contemporary portrayal of the classic love story, between Friday, April 12, and Sunday, April 21, in the Belk Theater of the Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts.

Florida’s Jaterra Bonds dropped in a three-footer with two seconds left to provide the winning margin in a 67-65 decision over host Charlotte in the WNIT Sweet 16 Wednesday night in Halton Arena. The loss ends the second-most successful campaign in 49ers history.

University officials expect a large crowd to attend the spring game, so it will provide an opportunity to see what fall football Saturdays will be like.

April is North Carolina Science Festival time, and UNC Charlotte will hold a series of public lectures entitled “Research Journeys” to educate and inform the community about a variety of science topics.
