Jeffrey Leak appointed interim associate dean of Honors College
Jeffrey B. Leak was named interim associate dean of the Honors College, effective Aug. 1. In this two-year appointment, Leak will manage the day-to-day functions of the University Honors Program — the largest honors program on campus. Additionally, he will oversee the curriculum, course offerings, programming, advising and instructional budget of the Honors College.
University Convocation set for Aug. 17
This year’s University Convocation will begin at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the Popp Martin Student Union, Multipurpose Room.
Malin Pereira appointed dean of Honors College
Malin Pereira has been appointed dean of the Honors College, effective July 1. She currently serves as executive director of the college. The creation of a new deanship and change in reporting structure recognizes the role of honors programming in the University’s strategic plan, as the college’s goal is to recruit, nurture and retain world-class, diverse undergraduates to the University.

Helping solve the digital divide one computer at a time
UNC Charlotte recycles nearly 300 laptops a year, and the University’s OneIT team looked for an organization to partner to get these computers to local families in need. As a result, these laptops are being refurbished and re-imaged by high school students and are redistributed to families in Mecklenburg County, thanks to E2D, a Charlotte-based nonprofit organization.
