Faculty/staff tickets to football game against App State now on sale
Charlotte 49ers football is offering faculty and staff members the chance to purchase up to four tickets to the game against Appalachian State University on Saturday, Sept. 8.
To purchase tickets, call 704-687-4949 or 704-687-4849. All tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, July 31.
Charlotte 49ers partnering with Tailgate Guys
The Charlotte 49ers are partnering with Tailgate Guys to enhance football game days. Tailgate Guys is considered the nation’s leader in premium tailgate and event services, and starting this fall, members of Niner Nation will have access to reserve turnkey and premium tailgate services just steps from Jerry Richardson Stadium.
Syracuse’s Chris Fuller joins Charlotte 49ers athletics
Syracuse University Deputy Athletics Director for External Operations Chris Fuller will become the Charlotte 49ers’ Deputy Athletics Director for External Affairs, beginning in July.
Softball’s Harris wins C-USA Spirit of Service Award
Charlotte 49ers junior softball star Meredith Harris is among 14 student-athletes who received the Conference USA Spring Spirit of Service Award. This honor is designed to recognize the league’s student-athletes based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport.
The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the season. These most recent honorees represent spring sports: baseball, golf, softball, tennis and outdoor track and field.
C-USA football broadcast schedule includes each 49ers game
Each of the Charlotte 49ers eight Conference USA games as well as both of its non-conference home games will be broadcast by a C-USA partner during the 2018 football season.

Seniors Haley Pace and Bailey Rhoney have garnered Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Former 49ers defensive back makes CFL debut with Toronto Argonauts
Anthony Covington, a former Charlotte 49ers defensive back, recently made his professional debut in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts in the team’s first preseason game.
Covington, who had three tackles in the contest, played in 29 games in three seasons with the 49ers, making 15 starts. He is the 49ers all-time leader with 17 career pass breakups (PBU). He amassed 85 tackles in his career with two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. In addition to his role as a defensive back, Covington saw time as a kick returner.
Rose receives Order of the Long Leaf Pine, named athletics director emerita
Judy Rose, special assistant to the chancellor for intercollegiate athletics, recently received high honors from the University and the state of North Carolina.
Rose, who retires effective June 30, 2018, was named athletics director emerita by Chancellor Philip Dubois and received the state’s Order of the Long Leaf Pine. In April, she earned a UNC Charlotte Honorary Alumna Award.
Dubois noted Rose’s well-documented success story in leading the 49ers Athletics Department during the past 28 years.
49ers Athletic Foundation to hold 35th Great Gold Rush Auction
The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation will host the 35th annual Great Gold Rush Auction, Saturday, June 2, in Halton Arena, Barnhardt Student Activity Center.
Men’s Rugby Club team wins national championship
UNC Charlotte’s 2018 Men’s Rugby Club team recently won the national championship for the Men’s Division 2 College 7s in Glendale, Colorado.
