Temporary lane closure scheduled along Cameron Boulevard

A temporary closure of the eastbound lane of Cameron Boulevard in front of Wallis Hall is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, Jan. 26.

Workers will complete asphalt patching along the new concrete curb and the bus pull-off. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work area to maintain two-way travel.

Exercise caution when approaching construction zones; expect construction personnel and equipment.

University receives finalized 2017 financial statement from state auditor

UNC Charlotte recently received its 2017 audited financial report from the Office of the State Auditor. The report again showed no findings related to what University officials reported, which indicates the strength of UNC Charlotte’s financial position and its internal controls.

Horne appointed director of facilities planning

Kathryn Horne, previously the director of university space management and utilization, has been appointed director of facilities planning. She joined UNC Charlotte’s Facilities Management Department in 2015.

In her new role, Horne will guide the development of the campus in accordance with UNC Charlotte’s current Master Plan. She will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive capital construction plans in collaboration with other divisions of the University. 

Nominees sought for Employee of the Year

The Human Resources Department is accepting nominations for the 2018 Staff Employee of the Year awards. This program honors UNC Charlotte staff members who have contributed exemplary service beyond the normal parameters of their job. Any permanent employee of UNC Charlotte can submit a nomination and are encouraged to do so.

Individuals can be nominated in any one of five categories:

Sign up to receive electronic W-2s

UNC Charlotte employees have the option to receive their Form W-2 electronically for the 2017 tax year. This includes faculty, staff, temporary and student employees. Sign up is required by Sunday, Dec. 31.

Note: Employees who previously elected to receive their Form W-2 electronically do not need to take action again this year.

Once available, the form can be accessed by logging into the secure My UNCC portal, where it can be viewed or downloaded and printed. 

Kiley earns Business Continuity Planning Professional certification

Shawn Kiley, business continuity analyst in the Office of Emergency Management, recently earned the Business Continuity Planning Professional certification from the Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) International. The weeks-long process included a four-day seminar, a qualifying exam and a series of subject-matter-expertise essays that were reviewed by the organization’s governing commission.
