Videos to help campus community be NinerReady

Safety is a top priority for UNC Charlotte. To help ensure all members of the campus community know what to do in the event of an emergency, the Department of Safety and Security, in collaboration with the Office of University Communications, created videos focused on the three main NinerAlert directives: seek shelter, lockdown and evacuation. 

Open Enrollment for the 2020 plan year is underway

UNC Charlotte employees who are eligible for insurance benefits have until Tuesday, Nov. 19, to make State Health Plan and NC Flex benefits elections for the 2020 plan year. The enrollment period for 2019, which began Nov. 2, is shorter than previous years. A few highlights:

Brown needs shared leave

Stacey Brown, ITS, needs shared leave donations. The Benefits Office will accept donations through Nov. 14.To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements and participant forms in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or in the literature racks outside of the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207. Sign up for electronic Form W-2

UNC Charlotte employees have the option to receive their Form W-2 electronically for the 2019 tax year. This includes faculty, staff, temporary and student employees. Sign up is required by Monday, Dec. 31.Note: Employees who previously elected to receive their Form W-2 electronically do not need to take action again this year.

New security measures at UNC Charlotte Center City starting Dec. 2

Beginning Monday, Dec. 2, new security measures will be in place at UNC Charlotte Center City.Faculty, staff and studentsAll faculty, staff and students must wear their 49er ID cards at all times when inside the building. This includes those working and attending classes at UNC Charlotte Center City as well as all employee and student visitors to the building. Lanyards will be provided at the lobby desk.

Lane closures scheduled for asphalt repairs

On Friday, Oct. 25, there will be lane closures on Craver Road near the Popp Martin Student Union and Phillips Road near Hayes Stadium to repair asphalt.Expect flaggers to assist with traffic diversion and paving equipment and personnel at these sites.

Campus partnerships result in successful Sustainability Week

Sustainability Week is an annual observance that marked its sixth year earlier this month. Organizers noted the support of units across campus resulted in a successful effort. For Chartwells, the University food service provider, there are benefits to partnering with the Office of Sustainability on the transportation fair and other sustainability events.
