CTL workshop leaders committed to seeing, hearing faculty
Faculty support is the mission of the Center for Teaching and Learning, and for a trio of participants in the center’s Active Learning Academy, it has become a personal bonding experience.
For faculty members Susana Cisneros, Julie Cook and Brittany Johnson, a shared interest in active learning brought them together. They discovered common ground and shared feelings, and the friendship and support network they developed through team meetings are what’s going to continue, which will lead to further collaboration.

Teachers Observing Peers: Schedule a visit this semester
Faculty members interested in incorporating greater active learning in their classrooms have the chance to observe their peers from a variety of disciplines as they implement techniques in a live or online classroom setting. The Center for Teaching and Learning’s Teachers Observing Peers (TOP) program is an informal, voluntary observation between faculty, and it is for professional purposes only.
Newest active learning classroom marks its first semester in use
As the fall semester draws to a close, it provides the opportunity to highlight the initial use of a new active learning classroom on campus.The Steelcase Active Learning Classroom, located in the College of Health and Human Services, is a flexible space that seats up to 38 students.

Steelcase Education grant to fund new active learning classroom
UNC Charlotte recently received a $67,000 grant from Steelcase Education’s Active Learning Center (ALC) program to add a new active learning classroom in the College of Health and Human Services.
