Learn the basics of home gardening
UNC Charlotte employees can register to learn the fundamentals of beginning an in-home garden at the free class “Basic Home Gardening” scheduled for 4 p.m., Monday, March 18, at the McMillan Greenhouse.
The Advisory Committee to the Chancellor for Employee Health and Wellness is sponsoring this one-hour workshop. Participants should bring notetaking equipment and wear closed-toe shoes.

More than 30 legislators from the Charlotte region attended a recent dinner hosted by Chancellor Philip L. Dubois and the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Sharon Decker, a member of the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees, recently received the Women in Business Lifetime Achievement Award from the Charlotte Business Journal.
She, along with 25 other female business leaders, including alumna Jane Wu, were recognized as part of the Journal’s 23rd annual Women in Business Achievement Awards event.

Annual Chancellor’s Student Forum scheduled
Chancellor Philip L. Dubois and the Student Government Association host an annual forum that provides students the opportunity to have an interactive discussion to address current issues within the University’s environment.
This year’s forum is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Popp Martin Student Union Multipurpose Room as part of the Student Government Association Senate meeting.
Following the chancellor’s remarks, Niayai Lavien, president of the student body, will deliver her “State of the University” address.
Join colleagues at Faculty/Staff Social
Faculty and staff members can join colleagues for socializing and networking at a Faculty and Staff Social, which will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, at Harris Alumni Center at Johnson Glen.

The Council on University Community is accepting proposals for the Chancellor’s Diversity Challenge Fund, which supports initiatives that promote the daily value of diversity in the intellectual life of the campus. Faculty, staff or students are eligible to apply for awards of up to $5,000.
