2017 Staff Council Chili and Cornbread Cook-off winners named

Chris Maynard, a staff member in Travel and Complex Payments, was the big winner in the Staff Council’s annual Chili and Cornbread Cook-off, held Thursday, Feb. 23, in the Cone University Center Lucas Room.

Maynard’s chili recipe placed second, her cornbread recipe was judged the best, and her serving station won best décor. John Stephens from ITS took top honors for his chili recipe; while Niambi Ivery, CRES, was voted fan favorite.

Suzanne Jasmine from the Belk College of Business placed second in the cornbread competition.

APLU declares UNC Charlotte an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University

UNC Charlotte has a robust history of regional engagement that supports economic development, community engagement, innovation and entrepreneurship. In recognition of this strong commitment, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) has designated UNC Charlotte an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University.

Humphrey appointed vice chancellor and general counsel

James (Jesh) Humphrey IV has been appointed vice chancellor for legal affairs and general counsel, effective July 1.

Humphrey has been a member of the Office of Legal Affairs staff for almost 10 years, as assistant, associate, senior associate and deputy general counsel. For a short period in 2011, he served as chief legal counsel for the N.C. School of Science and Mathematics and assistant vice president for legal affairs at UNC General Administration.
