UNC Charlotte Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber and several University alumni and board members are on the 2023 Business North Carolina Power List. 

Gaber, recognized for the third consecutive year in the education category, told the publication her biggest inspiration has been her mom. “She was a hard-working, single parent who encouraged and believed in me.” 

‘Constellation Garden’ memorial to be dedicated with April 30th remembrance

On April 28, UNC Charlotte will dedicate a permanent campus memorial to honor those who died, who were injured or who were present during a campus shooting April 30, 2019.

SACSCOC reaffirmation committee issues no recommendations during visit

The second stage of UNC Charlotte’s 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is complete. This follows a campus visit March 21-23 by the on-site reaffirmation committee. 

Staff Council recognizes winners of recent cookoff

Earlier this month, the UNC Charlotte Staff Council held its annual Chili, Soup and Cornbread Cook-off.

First place winner for Best Chili or Soup was Shayauna Newsom, Office of Transition and Success Initiatives.  Sharon Scarborough, urbanCore, and Rusti Deal, facilities management, placed second and third, respectively

Scarborough won the Best Cornbread contest, with Dannie Mirovich, PaTS in second.

Former Bank of America leader joins UNC Charlotte as executive-in-residence

Retired Bank of America executive Charles Bowman is bringing his expertise to UNC Charlotte as an executive-in-residence. 

In this role, Bowman — who retired from BofA in April 2022 after more than 25 years — will help to further connect the University in the Charlotte region.
