CATS light rail to close temporarily Oct. 19-20

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will temporarily close the light rail for essential annual system maintenance Saturday, Oct. 19, through Sunday, Oct. 20.For the UNC Charlotte Main Station, service will cease after the last drop off at 1:02 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, and is expected to resume at 5:26 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21.Bus bridge

Reminder: 2019 Chancellor’s Reception scheduled

The Chancellor’s Reception, an annual staff recognition event, will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the Popp Martin Student Union Multipurpose Room. Hosted by Chancellor Philip L. Dubois, this event provides employees an opportunity to socialize and network with colleagues. Light refreshments will be served; raffle tickets will be distributed at the door giving attendees the chance to win Niner prizes. 

Learn more about the new requirement for last date of attendance

Beginning in spring 2020, there will be a new grading requirement for all instructors to provide the last date of attendance for any student with a grade of “F” or “U” in a course. This new procedure is in response to the U.S. Department of Education’s requirement for the Office of Financial Aid to determine if a student who receives financial aid and fails to earn a passing grade in a course has actually attended and/or completed the course.

Competition is underway for the First Citizens Bank Scholars Medal, Harshini de Silva Graduate Mentor Award and the Thomas L. Reynolds Graduate Leadership Award.

Fall Festival brought staff members together for a fun-filled event

Creating community among campus employees is a goal for the Staff Council’s annual Fall Festival. This year’s event, held Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center brought together more than 650 employees for a luncheon, outdoor and indoor games, a cake walk and more.

Register for annual legal symposium

The Division of Institutional Integrity will hold its annual legal symposium on Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Salons.The symposium, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will begin with “Inside the Chancellor Search Process.”Breakout sessions will be held throughout the remainder of the symposium on a variety of topics including copyright on campus, public records, Title IX and controversial speakers.

Staff Council to hold annual Fall Festival

The UNC Charlotte Staff Council’s annual Fall Festival will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.The festival is a free event; however, staff members should bring their UNC Charlotte ID for the luncheon.Register by Oct. 4 to participate in the photography, baking or craft competitions. Prizes will be awarded with winners announced during the festival.
