University to implement Paid Parental Leave starting Jan. 1

Under Executive Order 95, Providing Paid Parental Leave to Eligible State Employees, the Office of State Human Resources has established a pilot program to allow state agencies and universities to offer Paid Parental Leave (PPL) to promote physical and mental health for employee families, increase worker retention and improve worker productivity and morale.The UNC Board of Governors approved the Paid Parental Leave program in September 2019 and directed institutions to implement no earlier than Jan. 1, 2020, and no later than April 30, 2020.

EAP counselors available throughout August

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselor from ComPsych will be on site throughout August. Services will be available in King Building, Room 201A, on the following schedule:

New trainings to teach individual preparedness, student support

The Office of Emergency Management, the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and the Dean of Students Office are sponsoring new trainings to help faculty and staff learn how to proactively survive an intruder situation and to ease the transition for students on campus following the April 30 incident. 

EAP counselors will be on campus in June

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselor from ComPsych will be onsite one day each week during the month of June to meet with employees.

Services will be available 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 7, 14, 20 and 28, in King Building, Room 201A. Appointments are not required.

University Recreation Center slated for mid-fall opening

The University Recreation Center, scheduled to open during the upcoming fall semester, will respond to UNC Charlotte’s growing demand for dedicated student recreation and fitness space.

EAP counselor available May 24

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselor from ComPsych will be available to meet with employees between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Friday, May 24, in King Building, Room 201A; no appointment is necessary.
