Meet the graduate: Ayushi Patel
Ayushi Patel, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, is a member of the Class of 2022. She will graduate from the University’s College of Computing and Informatics with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. As she finishes her undergraduate degree, Patel shares her thoughts on the college and what she would do differently.
Is there a professor who most influenced your College of Computing and Informatics journey?
I did my research with Professor Heather Lipford, software and information systems, working with her and a group of my peers. In doing so, I was able to see and appreciate her work ethic and how involved she is on campus. She has been a great influence and role model for me as a woman in cybersecurity.
What makes CCI special?
CCI does not limit its students. It helps them become a better version of themselves by offering and encouraging opportunities to be involved in research, internships and mentorship.
Also, the Early Entry Program allows students to complete their undergraduate studies and earn a master’s degree in five years, which is incredible. The master’s I want to pursue is a two-year program. As a current early entry student, I will have completed 12 out of 30 total credits needed for that degree.
Charlotte has given me great opportunities to grow and learn so much as a human being — it has taught me a few of my biggest life lessons. CCI is just incredible, from our classrooms to our student organizations. It has just been a pleasure to be part of it — and this includes the opportunity to work with our business partners.
Where on the Charlotte campus do you feel most comfortable, most at home?
The ACM-W Lounge in Woodward Hall.
What is the one thing you wish you had done differently in your time at CCI?
I wished I had been more involved in my sorority, Alpha Omega Epsilon, early on.
