UNC Charlotte Chancellor Philip L. Dubois and First Lady Lisa Lewis Dubois were honored recently by Mayor Vi Lyles for their leadership, dedication and service to the city of Charlotte.

At a time when reports show that six in 10 students who enroll in a U.S. college will not have earned a degree six years later, UNC Charlotte is embracing the challenge to increase timely degree completion for enrolled students.

UNC Charlotte is offering a unique educational experience to students seeking internships and other learning opportunities during the upcoming 2020 Republican National Convention (RNC) in Charlotte. Through an exclusive partnership with The Washington Center (TWC), UNC Charlotte will host hundreds of students from across the country for an extraordinary two-week educational program from Aug.16-28, 2020.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 2, new security measures will be in place at UNC Charlotte Center City.Faculty, staff and studentsAll faculty, staff and students must wear their 49er ID cards at all times when inside the building. This includes those working and attending classes at UNC Charlotte Center City as well as all employee and student visitors to the building. Lanyards will be provided at the lobby desk.

Faculty and staff members can join colleagues for socializing and networking at a Faculty and Staff Social, which will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Harris Alumni Center at Johnson Glen.Sponsored by Chancellor Philip L. Dubois, the social will feature light hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer and soft drinks. RSVPs requested.

Acclaimed historian and scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. spoke to a capacity crowd in McKnight Hall about how he came to produce his television series, “Finding Your Roots.”

UNC Charlotte Chancellor Philip L. Dubois joined the leaders of four other Charlotte-area colleges to discuss the future of higher education on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

The Chancellor’s Reception, an annual staff recognition event, will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the Popp Martin Student Union Multipurpose Room. Hosted by Chancellor Philip L. Dubois, this event provides employees an opportunity to socialize and network with colleagues. Light refreshments will be served; raffle tickets will be distributed at the door giving attendees the chance to win Niner prizes.
