Student Alumni Ambassadors celebrate 30 years of service
For the past 30 years, Student Alumni Ambassadors have welcomed thousands of visitors to UNC Charlotte at venues across the campus and in UNC Charlotte Center City. They are easy to recognize in their “49er Green” blazers.
Recently, members of the organization gathered at the Harris Alumni Center for a special celebration.
UNC Charlotte Center City to host ‘Solving It Together’
Mayoral candidates Patrick Cannon and Edwin Peacock along with three area journalists will participate in the free, community “Solving It Together” event scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, at UNC Charlotte Center City.
WCNC anchor Dave Wagner will moderate the discussion; the event will be streamed live on WCNC.com and CharlotteObserver.com.
Individuals are encouraged to register online to attend.
First Giving Green raffle set for Oct. 10
The 2013 Giving Green Campaign is off to a strong start, and the Giving Green incentive raffles are a way to keep that momentum going.
The first Giving Green raffle will be Thursday, Oct. 10. Throughout the day, University employees can win a prize if they make a contribution to any or all of the Giving Green beneficiaries – Arts & Science Council, State Employees Combined Campaign or the UNC Charlotte Foundation.
CNN’s Toobin to talk ‘Politics, Media and the Law’ for Chancellor’s Speaker Series
Jeffrey Toobin, senior analyst for CNN, will be the featured guest for the third annual Chancellor’s Speaker Series, scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, at UNC Charlotte Center City.
Goldfield to deliver 2013 Caldwell Lecture, event to honor long-time University supporters
David Goldfield, the Robert Lee Bailey Professor of History, will deliver the annual Caldwell Lecture in the Humanities at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, in UNC Charlotte Center City. Longtime UNC Charlotte benefactors Sally Dalton and Russell Robinson II will receive the John T. Caldwell Award for the Humanities at this free, public event.
Hudson tours advanced manufacturing labs
U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson (’96) visited his alma mater, UNC Charlotte, recently as part of his August recess from Congress. He wanted to learn more about the University’s role in advanced manufacturing.
Hudson met with Chancellor Philip L. Dubois; Bob Wilhelm, vice chancellor for research and economic development; and other University officials. After viewing Richardson Stadium, he stopped in at the Precision Metrology Lab and other high-tech industrial labs in Duke Centennial Hall.
